MATES in Construction Queensland is looking for a Case Manager/Field Officer.

As a Case Manager/Field Officer, the primary focus of the role will be to look after a changing case load of 30-40 clients across Queensland and the Northern Territory. Although the role is based in Brisbane, travel is required to meet the needs of all cases. As this role is often on the road, a demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly within a team, manage workloads, set goals, and ensure deadlines and commitments are met will see you succeed in the role. Communication, relatability and people skills are a large aspect of this role, so highly developed communication skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills are necessary requirements for the role.

This role is for a person who is passionate about helping people. As the construction industry is a male-dominated area, being comfortable with a variety of personalities from all walks of life is necessary to communicate effectively and come across more approachable in the industry. Candidates who have been through, or have supported someone with mental health illness/suicide ideations, are particularly encouraged to apply as the organisation has an appreciation that personal experience can only benefit clients in terms of relatability.

Skills & Experience

  • A degree in social work or equivalent.
  • Current open drivers licence
  • The ability to deliver presentations and training to large groups
  • Sound experience using the MS office range
  • Personal experience or experience supporting a person with mental ill-health, suicide ideation and/or behaviour in your personal or work life.

Desirable but not essential

  • Experience working in the construction industry or similar industry
  • ASIST or Connector trained

This is a great opportunity to work for an organisation that raises awareness and delivers mental health and suicide prevention programs across the Australia.
