On Saturday the 30th of April 2016 Master Builders are again graciously supporting MATES in Construction WA by hosting the now annual Ride Against Suicide for MATES in Construction.

Last year over 30 Master Builders Members participated in the motorbike ride from Perth to Dwellingup via Jarrahdale Dam Cafe and raised just over $10,000 for the MATES in Construction program.

This year the starting flag will be waved by Mental Health Commissioner Tim Marney as the riders set off from the iconic Kings Park on their journey along the coast before heading inland to the finish line in Toodyay.

Robert Shaw, Past President of Master Builders was part of the team who came up with the idea of a motor bike ride to raise awareness about suicide and has been committed to the event since its inception. When asked how he thought last year’s event turned out, the response was simple – “Bloody brilliant – it’s a fun day for a cause that is very hard for a lot of us to talk about”.

“MATES in Construction is doing a great job in trying to help workers who have mental health issues which could lead to thoughts of suicide. The building industry needs to recognise the magnitude of the problem and support mates in their endeavours,” Mr Shaw concluded.

If you’d like to get involved in the day please don’t hesitate to contact Robert on 0412 923 158 and we look forward to seeing you on the road.
