The estimating team from Brisbane based company Fredon headed off to the Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton recently to take on the Tough Mudder challenge to raise funds for MATES in Construction.

While the weather was gorgeous and the scenery beautiful, the team wasn’t there for a relaxing bushwalk, or a glass of their favourite tipple. Instead they were greeted by 20 kilometres of mud and obstacles built to test mental grit, camaraderie and all-round physical fitness.

Before event starting the team had to climb a 8ft wall!  The team gritted their teeth and pulled together to navigate their way through every mudstacle the sadistic organisers had to offer- barbed wire, mud, quagmires, mud, electric shocks, mud, cage crawls, and more mud.

Some of the highlights included:

  • Mud Mile 2.0 – a gruelling series of steep trenches and ridges of slippery, unforgiving (you’ve guessed it) mud.
  • Arctic Enema 2.0 – thank goodness the challenge was in Queensland! Plunging into a shipping container full of 10 tons of ice and water to dive under a centre wall will certainly make you wake up to yourself.
  • Block Ness Monster – the ultimate in team work, the team had to push, pull and roll their way through a course of slick, rotating barriers.

As tough as the course was, the team at Fredon put themselves through this ordeal all for raising funds for MATES in Construction.  Their Go Fundraise page is still open so donate now!

By all accounts the team had a great time and are even thinking of doing it all again next year – way to go guys!
