The first ever charity lunch for MATES in Construction New South Wales was held on Friday 8 April.

Thanks to major sponsors BUSSQ, the lunch was a resounding success.

Over 270 people from the New South Wales construction industry attended the event and shared in the celebrations. The lunch saw Tom Watson, Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister for Health, Pru Goward acknowledge the important work of MATES in the NSW construction industry.

Rupert McCall a renowned poet recited a poem he had dedicated to MATES in Construction. This will now be read at all MATES in Construction events. Thanks to BUSSQ for supporting this initiative.

John Swan gave a moving speech about his life experiences and sang some of his hits.

The National and State Industry Partnerships were also launched with the partners presented with their plaques.

MATES in Construction NSW CEO, Peter McClelland commented that the lunch provided a great opportunity for the NSW construction industry to meet and network while celebrating the success of MATES in Construction in New South Wales.

“The funds raised today will mean we can continue building on the great work already done by MATES in Construction in New South Wales,” Peter said.

“We will certainly be holding the lunch on an annual basis, what a great way to celebrate the hard work of the construction industry in mental health and well-being,” he said.

Once again, thank you to our major sponsor BUSSQ; Entertainment sponsor Total Construction and to POMO for providing the graphic design. We would also like to thank Constructive Workforce, Wideform, Frasers Property for purchasing supporter packs at the lunch.
