The New South Wales Government recently announced a $100,000 funding boost to MATES in Construction for the Life Skills Toolbox program.

This funding means that a pilot program will be implemented in Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle over the next year, reaching 250 apprentices.

The Minister for Mental Health Pru Goward recently launched the program at a Hutchinson Builders high-rise construction site at Bondi Junction.

“There is no silver bullet for something as complex as self-harm and particularly suicide” the Minister said.

The $100,000 grant will fund the Life Skills Toolbox program and will cover suicide awareness, nutrition, fatigue, drug and alcohol issues, financial literacy and bullying.
