The Newcastle Race Day was held on Saturday 11 June with free entry for anyone wearing high vis.
Proceeds from fundraising efforts such as a ‘100 club’, auction of prizes and gold coin collections were donated to MATES in Construction.
Just over $3,000 was raised on the day for MATES and suicide prevention.
Greg Johnston and Carolyn Kelso from MATES in Construction attended the race day and met with a number of construction organisations from the Newcastle region.
“The day provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the MATES in Construction program and of suicide prevention in the construction industry,” Ms Kelso said.
“We thank everyone from the Newcastle Jockey Club for organising and supporting the day.
“Already we are working with organisations that attended the day to implement the MATES in Construction program to their sites,” Ms Kelso said.
